Cyndi Lauper - Money Changes Everything

“Money Changes Everything” was the fifth commercially released solo single by singer Cyndi Lauper in 1985.
The song was written by The Brains' frontman, Tom Gray, and was that band's only (underground) hit. This led to the group's signing by Mercury Records. They re-recorded the number under the guidance of producer Steve Lillywhite for their debut album, “The Brains” in 1980.
The song is also well known for its live performances. The official video was a live clip of the song in Houston, Texas.
The song is a rock and roll track about the perils of allowing money to interfere with interpersonal relationships, as well as its crippling hold over the music industry. Cyndi Lauper's version has been released in over 27 variations across the world, the most common being a two track 7″ vinyl single (with varying covers). There was also a less common 12″ vinyl single version.
Lauper recorded an acoustic version, with guest artist Adam Lazzara (from the band Taking Back Sunday), for her 2006 album “The Body Acoustic.”
Tom Gray, with his current band Delta Moon, has recorded a new version of the song for the CD “Clear Blue Flame,” due out August 2007. [Info courtesy: wikipedia.org]
